What happens transitionally with different types of flooring that meet?
Each room in the house doesn't always have the same flooring; after all, some types aren't meant for specific installations. For example, solid hardwood isn't suggested for wet spaces like the kitchen or bath.
With coordinating colors and styles, they can all peacefully co-exist. They can often create stunning design visuals! Many can be used with or without transition strips.
Here are a few suggestions to make it all work for your new floors.
Transition = purposeful interior design plan
We say, "go for it!" It's easy to find something that will work with all the options available today to create a unique and functional interior plan.
We know someone whose home has an open floor plan with the kitchen and dining room next to each other; stone floors in earthy colors bring out the hardwood undertones in the dining room floor.
On another side, the living room meets the dining room. They wrapped it all together with a carpet that complements the wood.
Feel free to come into our flooring store, where you'll see a large inventory. You'll buy brands like SmartStrand, Mohawk, Mannington, Interceramic, Daltile, and more.
Think about height differences
Safety should be a priority in any design. For example, if one floor is thick but meets another thinner one, you could have tripping dangers.
In addition, sometimes there can be durability issues, such as fraying, shrinking, or expanding.
In those cases, you will want to use a transition strip. But, again, please discuss this with the flooring professional to determine the best type for you; they come in various styles that address specific needs.
The flooring company will advise you on how to transition without a strip.
